Fashion is an essential part of our lives, shaping perceptions and offering a glimpse into personalities, identities, and social standing. It serves as a visual language, communicating the evolution of attitudes and societal values. As we study fashion trends of the 20th century, we uncover how fashion was not only a reflection of change but also a catalyst in advancing women's liberation.
Fashion has been a powerful force on the social and political stage, embodying beliefs, status, and individuality. By examining key eras of the 20th century, we can see how women's fashion mirrored significant world events and movements, while also driving forward social progress. This project explores how garments became symbols of empowerment and transformation.
Topic Synopsis
The purpose of this research is to explore the correlation between women's fashion trends and the political landscape of specific time periods. By exploring fashion as a reflection of economic status and the feminist movement, this research analyzes how these factors shaped and influenced women's fashion throughout the 20th century.

Prototype 2:
Visual Narrative/Publication Design
This prototype involves the creation of a visual narrative booklet to complement the Women Dressing Women exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The booklet's objective is to explore the dynamic relationships between women as both designers and wearers of fashion throughout history. By highlighting garments created by women for women, the exhibition and accompanying booklet aim to emphasize the pivotal roles women have played in shaping fashion trends, aesthetics, and cultural norms.
